  There are a lot of great choices for preschool or day care in Olney, MD.  It largely depends on what you are looking for.  We were looking for an educational place to send our child that provided a safe nurturing environment.  We didn’t need to send our daughter somewhere but we wanted her to get some time away from us and socialize with other children to prepare her for kindergarten.
  
  We visited just about every daycare/preschool in Olney.  They were all fine, for the most part.  Many of them didn’t offer part time programs and weren’t very flexible.  We only wanted to send our daughter to preschool a few days a week.  We also didn’t want a day care, we wanted a school.  We don’t consider ourselves very religious when compared to others.  But we believe in god and think that there are aspects of religion that we want our child to learn.
  
  The first time we walked into Shepard’s Care, we knew we found our place.  I can’t explain it, it just felt right.  Emily, Linda and the other teachers are just amazing.  They are great with children and you can feel that they love the kids.  They are not just people watching your kids, they are teachers and good people.  I feel so lucky we found this place.
  
  Most importantly they prepared our daughter for school.  By the time our daughter went to Kindergarten she was reading and writing.  She became less shy and just blossomed at this school.  We have since moved her to private school and she is excelling.  I would love to think it’s solely to her great genes but I know that is not the reality.  A lot of her success is due to the skills he received at this school, not day care, school.
  
  We now her younger sister at the school and we can’t say enough about good things about “bee’s” teachers.  They are amazing.
  
  My wife and I are typical over protective helicopter parents.  The people you see that don’t even let their children play in the yard under the supervision of another adult.  I have never felt worried about my children’s wellbeing. 
  
  Again if you are looking for an all-day 6am – 6pm day care this is not the place for you.  If you are looking for a safe place to drop your child and get them prepared for kindergarten you should visit the school and talk to Emily, Linda, and Christine.

  Shepherd's Care Children's Center is a great place to take your child. I have had the privilege of sending 3 of my kids here. Wonderful caring staff! Clean friendly environment!

  Good staff, good program, good facilities, along with an environment fostering an awareness of God.
  I think I would never say that God & religion is a big factor in choosing a preschool, but I think the *absence* of God is a bigger (downcheck) factor than I'd previously appreciated.
  When Offspring #2 started here, I realized how sterile Offspring #1's daycare & preschool years had been in the "religion-agnostic" facilities she had attended.
  I know #2's weekly class with the pastor was not the high point of his academic week, but when he brought art & projects home concerning Bible stories, I felt he was getting essential fundamentals for the rest of his life.
  
  On a completely different note:
  Be aware that this program is strictly pre-school. It is not like so many other programs around that are really more daycare-cum-pre-school.
